How it works

Veyrnox generates a Bitcoin keypair inside the Secure Enclave on your iPhone during setup. The public side is used to derive your BTC receive address; the private side never leaves the enclave in cleartext. Sending BTC constructs a standard Bitcoin transaction — native send and receive on-chain using SegWit and Taproot address formats where appropriate — hands it to the enclave for signing behind a Face ID prompt, and broadcasts the signed transaction to a Bitcoin node. UTXO management is handled by the app: when you enter an amount, Veyrnox selects the UTXOs to spend, estimates the miner fee, and shows you the total before you approve. Balances and confirmations are read straight from the Bitcoin network. There is no Veyrnox-controlled database of who owns what — Bitcoin itself is the source of truth, and your keys are the only thing that can move funds at your address.

Veyrnox charges $0 for wallet operations on Bitcoin. Receiving BTC is free, and there is no monthly subscription required to send. Sending only costs the Bitcoin network (miner) fee, which the network sets based on current mempool conditions and block space demand. Veyrnox shows the estimated network fee on the confirmation screen alongside the amount and the recipient — you approve the full picture with Face ID before anything is broadcast. There is no Veyrnox markup on the miner fee, no spread on the transaction, and no percentage take. Veyrnox is Bitcoin-first: the primary product is native on-chain BTC send and receive on the main Bitcoin network. Modern address formats — including SegWit and Taproot where applicable — reduce transaction size and unlock better fee efficiency. Lightning is on the roadmap rather than shipped today, so for now everyday BTC flows go on-chain. Compared to competitors

Muun and Blue Wallet are the two best-regarded Bitcoin-focused self-custody apps on iPhone, and both do a good job at what they aim for — but both are built on the classic seed-phrase model. Security model

Modern iPhones ship with the Secure Enclave, a dedicated hardware security chip that iOS itself cannot extract keys from. Every Bitcoin signing operation in Veyrnox happens inside the enclave, gated by Face ID or Touch ID and your 8-digit PIN. The app cannot construct a signed BTC transaction without an explicit biometric approval on the confirmation screen. Recovery uses Shamir Secret Sharing: the material needed to reconstruct your keys is split into KEK-encrypted shards across the device and your personal cloud (iCloud, OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.). Reconstitution requires both — a lost iPhone alone cannot unlock your BTC, and a compromised iCloud account alone cannot either. Veyrnox holds no shard, which means Veyrnox cannot recover your wallet on your behalf and cannot be legally compelled to hand it over.
